The process of negotiating can be challenging and sometimes frightening.  You prepare and know what you want, but then everything goes horribly wrong. You get distracted by your emotions. Sometimes you fail to achieve your goals because you don't even try, or lose your way.

Moshe discusses the factors that make our negotiations so challenging in his book "Collywobbles." While there is discussion of negotiation techniques and strategies, the focus is on practical application, which is what we love at The Negotiation Club.

Moshe has created Collywobble Negotiation Tactics Cards in order to bring his book to life and allow you to put into practice the applications that can help you put those collywobbles to bed forever.

HOW TO BEAT THE COLLYWOBBLES ON PURPOSE:

  1. Each negotiator selects their BUYER or SELLER Negotiation Card.
  2. Next, each negotiator selects a random tactic to practice from the Negotiation Tactics Deck.
  3. Finally each negotiator picks a random Collywobbles Negotiation Card.
  4. The practice negotiation should last between 4 to 5 minutes.
  5. During the negotiation each negotiator should try and use their selected tactic and consider their 'Collywobbles'
  6. Immediately after the practice each negotiator will be asked what tactics they believe the other negotiator was practicing; this encourages critical observation skills.
  7. After a debrief the exercise can be repeated with a different tactic.

NOTE: Negotiation Observers can be used to provide additional third party feedback in valuable insights.
